This vital role ensures the safety and wellbeing of all players, coaches, and officials associated with WJFC by overseeing safeguarding and compliance with relevant qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all coaches and officials hold the appropriate qualifications and valid safeguarding certifications to perform their roles safely and effectively.
- Provide advice and support on safeguarding matters, referring any concerns to the Bucks and Berks County FA as necessary.
- Act promptly in any safeguarding incidents requiring immediate action, including contacting the police if a child’s safety is at risk.
- Monitor and remind coaches to keep their safeguarding and DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificates up to date.
- Manage DBS applications and renewals through the FA Club Portal and the “Know Your People” DBS system.
- Verify identification for DBS checks in person, ensuring all procedures comply with safeguarding standards.
- Maintain access to the FA Club Portal to oversee coaches’ and officials’ safeguarding qualifications and DBS expiry dates.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
- Completion of the Club Welfare Officer course (a one-off training course reimbursed by the club).
- Completion of Safeguarding Children training (same as coaches’ safeguarding course).
- A valid DBS certificate specifically for WJFC (must be obtained prior to starting the role).
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage confidential information sensitively.
- Commitment to promoting a safe and positive environment for all children and young people involved in the club.
Time Commitment:
The role requires approximately 30 minutes per week, making it manageable alongside other commitments.
