A season that began with hope now stands on the edge of history. Every early morning, every muddy boot, every shout from the sidelines has led us here. Not by chance, but by commitment. and belief.
For the second year running, Wendover Junior FC Under 12s Youth Team step into a final.
Last season proved you could rise. This season proved you could lead. You didn’t just play the game, you set the standard. Not as dreamers, as contenders.
Look at what this team has become.
101 goals scored and only 39 conceded. Seb with an amazing 33 goals, leading the charge with also Ed, Hugo and Rajan reaching double figures.
Rajan and Rory, the heartbeat in midfield. Ed and Hugo, a storm down the wings, speed, goals and assists that changed games. Megan, the rock at the back, calm under pressure marshalling her fellow able defenders Ben, Harry Stott, Billy and Harley. Sully and Harry, fearless between the posts, guardians of the goal. Aaron, Henry & Hugo Sitzberger, Aksh, Eric and Mayson, always at the ready to help the team out, even Tommy scored a hatful of goals before he had to leave.
Every single player that has stood on the pitch under the WJFC Youth banner made such a valuable contribution, this team is not built on individuals. It is built on togetherness.
From the first whistle of the season to now, you have played with gusto, with grit, with joy. You have adapted, stepped up, covered for each other, believed in each other. That is why you are here again.
And what stands in front of you is more than a match, it is a chance. A chance to lift that trophy again. A chance to take your place in Division Five. A chance to show everyone what Wendover Junior FC stands for.
But, win or lose, this journey has already been extraordinary. Success is not just measured in silverware. It is measured in growth, resilience, friendships forged, collective confidence built and by that measure, this team has already won.
To my fellow coaches, Lewis and Bobby, who have stood shoulder to shoulder through it all, thank you so much. To the parents, the unsung heroes, who ran the lines, officiated the matches and gave superb support, bringing energy, believing just as fiercely as the players. This moment belongs to you as well.
And to the players, when you step onto that pitch, remember who you are. You are the team that fought for every point. You are the team that never backed down. You earned this final.
So play with freedom, pride and for each other.
And no matter what happens, walk off that pitch knowing you gave everything. No regrets.
Because that is what champions do.
